A boss is read as authority and judgment — in the East one over your affairs and fortune (主), in the West the inner authority and the super-ego, in Ibn Sirin's tradition a person of power over you and your standing before them.
Three readings
周公解梦 reads the boss or master as 主 — one who holds sway over your affairs; their favour marks advancement and security, their displeasure a pressure or a standing to secure. The tradition reads them as the authority your fortune answers to.
Jung would read the boss as projected authority — the inner judge, the super-ego, the part of you that evaluates your worth and performance. Conflict with a dream boss often mirrors your relationship to your own standards and self-approval.
Ibn Sirin read one in authority over you as power that can raise or lower your standing — favour a benefit and security, anger a matter of accountability or conduct. Framed as meaning: whose approval are you measuring yourself against?
