Dreaming about eyes

A reading for meaning, not prophecy

Eyes are read as insight and being seen — in the East clarity and one's fortune-sight (目), in the West consciousness and the window of the Self, in Ibn Sirin's tradition one's faith, guidance, and the light by which one lives.

Three readings

In Chinese tradition · 周公解梦 · 目

周公解梦 reads the eyes as 目 — clarity, spirit, and the ability to see one's way; bright, clear eyes mark insight and good fortune, failing or injured eyes a matter you are refusing or unable to see. They are the lamp of your understanding.

In Western psychology · Jungian

Jung would read eyes as consciousness itself — awareness, the way you see and are seen. Losing your sight in a dream marks a refusal or fear of seeing; many eyes, the pressure of being watched or judged. The eye is the window of the Self.

In Islam · Ibn Sirin

Ibn Sirin read the eyes as one's faith and guidance — the light by which one is led; sound eyes right guidance and insight, blindness a loss of direction or a truth turned away from. Framed as meaning: what are you being asked to see clearly?
