The Chinese tradition reads weddings with a double ledger: union is fortune, but the classical texts also mark dream-weddings as weighty — a binding of fate (缘) that ends one season and begins another, sometimes with an undertone of obligation or even mourning dress beneath the red. The dream asks what you are about to bind yourself to, and whether the contract is one your whole life can sign.
